WingIDE - User mailing list
Hi Andy,

I use wing with conda virtual environments all the time, both on OS X and Linux without trouble.  I am not familiar with the virtual environment commands you are using so I expect it is not within anaconda python but maybe the following will work for you as it does for me.

Within the Project Properties dialog, I set Python Executable to be the output of sys.executable from the Python interpreter.  Run the interpreter for your virtual environment outside of Wing.  From that interpreter, run import sys; print(sys.executable) then use the resulting value for the Python Executable field in your Project Properties dialog.

If that does not work with your virtual environment, perhaps consider switching to Anaconda Python distribution to resolve this; I have had great success with it.

I am trying to use the python virtual environment with wing IDE and it just does not seem to work. I have it set up in the project properties it just totally ignores it and the path reverts to the where the link is from so back to the Library:
set up the virtual env on the command line like this:
  python3 -m venv python
  source python/bin/activate

Add project properties Custom Python Executable:
Immediately updates itself to where the symbolic link is:

I tried adding the custom python path in the properties (/Users/andy/cef-consumer/python)but nothing works.

Is there anything special required to get it to work?

Kind regards,
